Data & AI, Visualisation Specialist - Sydney

Ben joined onepoint in Sydney in 2020 as a data visualisation specialist, after coming back from its international experience. Ben graduated from law school at University of Adelaide and  had a strong desire to move overseas and to work with technology in Asia. An opportunity led him to move to Yangon, Myanmar, resulting in an Account Manager role with Microsoft and telecom MPT at a local leading PR agency. He was there instrumental in launching a variety of Microsoft solutions into the Myanmar market, including Microsoft 365 and several Azure products.

As the benefits of Microsoft technology solutions became clear, he pivoted to working with the low-code Power Platform, creating reports and business apps to improve operational efficiencies. He lived in Myanmar until COVID started, returning to Australia in March 2020, and continuing to work with the Microsoft Power Platform.

Born in Adelaide, Ben has always maintained interests in technology, travel and foreign cultures, and business and current affairs. Until COVID, he travelled extensively around Asia especially, filling up a passport in only 6 years. Some highlights include a 5 day tour to North Korea, driving across Germany on the autobahn in an Audi A5, and a semester at Korea University in Seoul. Benjamin loves working at onepoint because it is very international. He has colleagues from around the world!

If you were to start a business tomorrow, what would it be?

Benjamin – I would begin a smart-home and high-end audio-visual installation business. Friends don’t let friends watch TV in 540p!

A hidden talent?

Benjamin – I have swum my whole life. I was the Swimming Captain in high school, and my first job was a swimming instructor. This year I raised over $3800 for youth suicide awareness by swimming 26km throughout March as part of Laps for Life.

What are the three adjectives that a former client would use to describe you?

Benjamin – Communicative, creative & perceptive
