ExtraStudent, the first “Made in France” free academic assistance platform

Our Onepoint experts are committed to supporting a young entrepreneur who is launching a free educational platform for all French students.

In May 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, 17-year-old high school student Jules Simiand Brocherie decided to dive into entrepreneurship by launching the platform “Élèves solidaires.” This “palliative” initiative was aimed at combating school dropout, a phenomenon that affected between 4 and 8% of students in France during the health crisis, where the unprecedented confinement severely disrupted educational habits with the widespread shift to remote learning.

Renamed “ExtraStudent” by its founder in 2022, the platform quickly garnered interest and support from students who saw it as a way to overcome their demotivation, as well as from parents who, during the lockdown periods, had to take on the role of “teachers” at home despite the challenges of the task.

Today, the company continues to grow with a clear goal: to encourage students to help each other by sharing their knowledge and revision notes on extrastudent.com. Improving knowledge sharing remains the core of Jules Simiand Brocherie’s voluntary commitment. However, the young founder’s ambition for ExtraStudent doesn’t stop there. He envisions, in the long term, the integration of his platform into the heart of the French education system.

Currently available in two languages: French and English, the platform is mobile-friendly and also available as a phone app.

ExtraStudent was a gamble for me, and today I hope that this platform becomes increasingly used by the education system.

Onepoint, Committed to Young Entrepreneurial Initiatives

Since its founding in 2002, Onepoint has continually grown in terms of ambition. Today, we are dedicated to sharing our expertise by supporting and guiding the younger generation of French entrepreneurs.

With collaborative intelligence and the synergy of knowledge at the core of our activity, we are fully committed to helping grow the ExtraStudent project, enabling students to benefit from the power of cohesion and the pooling of skills.

A Platform Redesigned by Our Onepoint Talent

One year after its launch, the platform has seen real success among the youth: the number of sign-ups continues to rise.

To address the increasing number of connections, our team of experts worked alongside Jules Simiand Brocherie’s vision by reworking the platform’s UX (user experience) to make it not only more attractive but also more user-friendly.

Our talent mobilized under the leadership of Malik Ben Romdhane, Project Director at Onepoint, who guided the project around two main challenges: optimizing the user journey and providing support in the site’s testing phase (design compliance, development, etc.).

Together, our experts collaborated on the development and design challenges of the ExtraStudent platform.

This team effort, coordinated effectively, allowed Onepoint’s expertise to create sustainable solutions within a limited timeframe.

During this project, there was active listening and strong convictions, combined with a lot of pedagogy. We had a great experience, and the team is happy to have been able to support Jules on this project.

Results in line with ExtraStudent’s expectations

Thanks to the co-creation dynamic between the teams on this project, the platform now has over 30,000 active students. The 20-year-old French entrepreneur greatly appreciated working with our five Onepoint experts, who provided the necessary rigor and expertise to give a new boost to his project.

I was fortunate to work with a very professional and attentive team. Over the course of these two months, there was comprehensive support from highly available experts who adapted to every situation.
