Launch of L’Institut, Onepoint’s R&D hub.
At the crossroads of research, academia, and entrepreneurial innovation, Onepoint inaugurates today L’Institut, a cross-functional entity of the group dedicated to research and innovation. At the heart of its mission is to foster interactions between the worlds of research and academia, providing them with tangible connections to businesses and the needs of clients and partners.
On the occasion of the launch of L’Institut on Tuesday, September 27, Onepoint is honored to welcome Minister Olivia Grégoire, Delegate Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises, Commerce, Craftsmanship, and Tourism, as well as Secretary of State Sarah El Haïry, in charge of Youth and the National Universal Service (SNU). The day will feature technological demonstrations, a showroom, as well as roundtables and debates on current topics.
L’Institut, Supporting Disruptive Innovators
The Onepoint Institute aims to support disruptive innovators – researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and key players in innovation ecosystems – who are tackling current and future challenges. Positioned as the bridge between research, education, and entrepreneurial innovation, the Institute connects the world of research with the business needs of its clients and partners to implement new growth drivers and enrich the company’s model.
At the intersection of academic, institutional, and industrial ecosystems, the Institute supports the development and scaling of the group’s technological and scientific projects, leveraging a deep understanding of the transformation drivers for organizations (data, AI, platforms, mixed realities, etc.).
The Institute reconciles economic imperatives with the consideration of major societal challenges of the 21st century and aims to create assets as a project accelerator focused on technology and transformation. It ensures cross-functionality, coherence, and visibility of the group’s activities and develops new collaboration models that create value for Onepoint’s activities and those of its partners.
An entity organized around 6 complementary areas
The activities operate in an interdependent manner:
- The Scientific and Technological Hub, whose mission is to organize R&D activities across the group.
- The School and University Partnerships Hub, whose mission is to develop excellence partnerships and ensure Onepoint’s visibility in the academic world.
- The Entrepreneurship Hub, which organizes the distribution, maintenance, and development of assets through startups.
- The Showroom Hub, which serves as a showcase for Onepoint’s scientific and technological assets and a demonstration space for the latest innovations.
And two organizational and communication hubs:
- The Governance and Management Hub, which ensures the monitoring of actions implemented.
- The Communication Hub, which focuses on promoting L’Institut’s visibility.
Among its first projects, L’Institut is behind a laboratory in partnership with Télécom Paris: TALia. It is dedicated to natural language processing with one key goal: to humanize interactions with machines. TALia is a joint laboratory that combines the expertise of Onepoint’s employees with the research capabilities of Télécom Paris on a shared topic of interest: Natural Language Processing (NLP). This field focuses on the interactions between machines and humans and aims to create solutions capable of understanding natural language. NLP applications are present in our daily lives: speech synthesis, spell checking, word prediction on smartphones, and even opinion and emotion analysis.
At the helm of L’Institut, Muriel Touaty, a prominent figure in Tech
The project is led by Muriel Touaty, Partner in Education, Research & Innovation at Onepoint, who previously chaired the representation of Technion in France and French-speaking Europe. She was recently promoted to the rank of Knight of the French Legion of Honour on January 1, 2022, by Minister Frédérique Vidal.
Regarding L’Institut, Muriel Touaty states: “The core challenge of the project lies in L’Institut’s ability to drive new value models in line with market needs and societal issues. We are also committed to empowering the ideas of our talents by supporting them in bringing their projects to life. It is a strategic bet that integrates the needs of our partners, clients, and talents.”
