The Monnaie de Paris is rethinking its digital reach

Onepoint was able to contribute to the digital transformation of Monnaie de Paris, a millennium-old institution in constant evolution. Our experts applied their expertise in experience design and artistic direction to enhance the main showcase of Monnaie de Paris — its website.

A cradle of unique expertise, the Monnaie de Paris mints both French and foreign currency as well as exceptional products: medals, coins, decorations, and works of art.

Having fulfilled this mission for over 1,150 years, the Monnaie de Paris has continuously transformed and adapted. One of its key challenges is to also undergo a digital transformation.

The Monnaie de Paris launched a major overhaul of its website, centered around four key objectives:

  • Increase visibility and brand recognition
  • Better guide and retain customers
  • Showcase all facets of the institution
  • Align with current graphic design trends

In this context, and leveraging its knowledge of the public sector, Onepoint proposed a solution that took into account the existing technical and design constraints. This was achieved by mobilizing highly specialized and complementary experts: Experience Designers and an Artistic Director.

Designing the experience for Monnaie de Paris: Experts working together to create better solutions

To best accomplish their mission, Onepoint’s teams collaborated with the business teams at Monnaie de Paris through several design workshops to explore, understand, prototype, and test.

Our collective research led us to identify several creative universes, which were then merged to create a shared and unified vision. This new experience was guided by four key principles:

  • Mobile first: for a smooth and engaging interface.
  • Immersive: to create a prestigious, cultural, and accessible universe. An experience designed for everyone.
  • Identity-driven: to ensure the brand is easily identifiable through strong visual markers.
  • Purpose-driven: to embody and communicate the mission of Monnaie de Paris while addressing diverse audiences.

This project was a great example of the ability of an executive committee to engage in an agile way, within a strategic project for the institution.

A Shared Success

The teams from Monnaie de Paris and Onepoint successfully collaborated to create an experience that highlights the institution, culture, and boutique of Monnaie de Paris all within the same website. This collaboration led to the creation of a new visual identity for the web, with updated graphic codes that align with Monnaie de Paris’ identity, and a seamless user experience.
